The Vicar of Dibley

Join us for an evening of laughter, heart-warming moments and classic British comedy as The Charity Players bring the beloved Vicar of Dibley to the stage this May.

When the sleepy village of Dibley unexpectedly welcomes its new vicar, the traditionalist parish council is in for quite a shock. Expecting the usual elderly gentleman, they are instead greeted by the vivacious, chocolate loving and quick witted Geraldine Granger. As she navigates the eccentricities of the local community including the bumbling but lovable Hugo, the delightfully dim Alice, the ever flustered Frank and the formidable David Horton, chaos, comedy and charm ensue.

Adapted from the hit TV series by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew Archer, this stage version brings together some of the most iconic moments from the show, celebrating the quirks of small village life with warmth and humour. Whether you are a long time fan or discovering Dibley for the first time, this is a feel good production not to be missed.

Expect misunderstandings, madcap council meetings and maybe even a romance or two, all wrapped up with a generous dose of good old fashioned British humour.

Upcoming Production

Auditions Now Open: Dad's Army

A stage production based on the classic BBC comedy.

The Charity Players are pleased to announce auditions for our upcoming production of Dad's Army, taking place this October in Northampton.

This stage production features three classic episodes from the much-loved BBC comedy series.

Episodes included

  • The Deadly Attachment featuring the famous line "Don't tell him Pike!" when the Home Guard capture a German U-boat captain.
  • Mum's Army where the platoon attempt to form a women's Home Guard section.
  • The Godiva Affair preparations for the town's annual carnival lead to Morris dancing and plenty of chaos.

Roles available

There are 11 male roles (with two actors doubling parts) and 8 female roles. All parts except Captain Mainwaring are relatively small, making this a great ensemble show.

There will also be a little marching and drill as part of the Home Guard scenes.

Auditions Closed: Dad's Army

Thank you to all those who attended the auditions.

We still have a small number of remaining auditions taking place next week, after which casting will be confirmed. We will share an update as soon as everything is finalised.

Thank you again to everyone who came along, took part and supported The Charity Players. We are very excited to begin working towards our October production of Dad's Army.
